Dousing Flames with Low-Frequency Sound Waves

A new type of extinguisher that uses sound waves to put out fires has been built by two engineering students in the US. Both chemical- and water-free, the invention offers a relatively non-destructive method of fire control, which could find applications in fighting small fires in the home, and the researchers now hold a preliminary patent application for their device.

While the concept of using sound waves to extinguish flames is not new, previous attempts to realize the principle – including efforts by teams at West Georgia University and the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) – had not been successful.

Undeterred by this, as well as initial [...]

Precision Nanobatteries by The Billions

Tiny batteries formed inside nanopores demonstrate that properly scaled nanostructures can use the full theoretical capacity of the charge storage material. These nanobatteries delivered their stored energy efficiently at high power (fast charge and discharge) and for extended cycling.

Precise structures can be constructed to assess the fundamentals of ion and electron transport in nanostructures for energy storage and to test the limits of three-dimensional nanobattery technologies.

Nanostructured batteries, when properly designed and built, offer promise for delivering their energy at much higher power and longer [...]

Moses Lake Inventors Unveil Engine Enhancer

Mike Archer and his team at A PADLE say their new combustion engine enhancer can help lower engine emissions, decrease fuel consumption and increase engine life and engine power. Together, Archer, Keith Simpson, Bill Plonske and Eli Kliemonv, have spent the last seven to eight years perfecting the technology. Their engine enhancer breaks down water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen gas which is highly combustible and causes fuel in an engine to burn more completely. HHO generators already exist, but the ones currently on the market are flawed mostly because they use a catalyst to extract the hydrogen and oxygen gases from water, said Simpson. That can lead to units producing an excess [...]

In The News | K o c h a r i

After a lengthy silence Solar Hydrogen Trends, Inc. has decided to update the community on the current status of the company, the Symphony reactor development, and the new achievements of their team. For the last several months the team was busy moving the operation from Hakop (Jack) Aganyan’s garage and back yard to a 2,000 sqft industrial facility that has some front office space, a large work shop, and a good size outdoor space for testing. Quite a bit of time was spent in remodeling the facility and upgrading the plumbing system and electrical panels. As of this writing the workshop has already been retrofitted with a lath, a drill press, and a milling machine.Several test [...]
